While speakeasies mostly disappeared after the Prohibition, the concept has retained its allure over the years, and plenty of bars have adopted the concept and aesthetic. Here are 10 of the best speakeasy bars in Las Vegas.

Why Do They Call Bars Speakeasy?

In the 1820s, the British would use “speak softly shop” to describe a smuggler’s house. Later this phrase evolved to “speak easy shop”, which was used to describe places where liquor was sold illegally. Customers should speak quietly (or easily) to avoid unwanted attention.

Eventually, the phrase was shortened to “speakeasy”. The term was originally used in the United States in the late 1800s to describe an unlicensed saloon and then was later used to describe illegal bars during Prohibition.

Final Words

Hopefully, one of these Las Vegas based speakeasy bars will fit your needs! Whether you need want a unique experience that borders on the zany or something that makes you feel like you’re in the Probation era, you are sure to find it in Sin City.
