Ice skating in the desert? Though this might seem pretentious for the harsh climate of Las Vegas, people can indulge in several unique ice skating rinks. This winterish activity is one of the ways residents and tourists keep from melting.
Skating parks in Las Vegas are packed with entertainment for the whole family. Many ice rinks operate year-round, while a few are seasonal. As for admission fees, skate rental prices, times, and days of operation, these are often subject to change. Hence, we’ll try to include as accurate information as possible.
All of the ice rinks mentioned below offer open skating to the public. Check out the multiple skating opportunities you have this winter and all year long in Las Vegas.
City National Arena

You can find City National Arena across from Downtown Summerlin on South Pavilion Center Drive. This facility features two NHL-sized ice sheets for both professional teams and public use.
City National Arena is home to Vegas Golden Knights, and is also boasts a theatre on ice and figure skating. Plus, there are skating and stick and puck lessons available, and the public can watch practices, too. When the rink accepts open skating, guests of any age can take part.
The price to enjoy the Arena is $10, while military members will pay less or $7 only. Those who want to rent skates will have to pay an extra $3.00. In addition, there’s an annual pass that costs $375, regardless of age. For the military, the price per year is $250.
Renting the place for private events is also available, and birthday parties are the latest hit. Located in the arena lobby, The Arsenal is the official team apparel store for the Vegas Golden Knights. There’s also a restaurant located between the two rinks overlooking both ice surfaces.

Fiesta Rancho Ice Arena

Fiesta Rancho Ice Arena is home to the Golden Knights Skating Academy. This facility is right on-site with an NHL regulation-sized 31,000 sq. ft. ice rink. Several youth and adult hockey teams practice here, but the place is also available for public skating. Interested skaters can take lessons at the Pepsi Ice Arena.
Thanks to skate schools, kids and adults of all ages can learn how to ice, figure, or hockey skate. Those who want to organize a public event or host a birthday party are also welcome. The public skating schedule is flexible, so we recommend checking their website for updated times.
Generally, afternoon sessions occur every Saturday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm, while cosmic skating is every Friday and Saturday from 8 pm to 10 pm. If you decide to take private lessons or join a league, the timing will be different.
The admission costs $8 per person, and skate rental is $4. The fee for professional lessons can vary depending on your skills.
Cosmopolitan Hotel & Casino Ice Skating Rink

The Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan transforms into a mesmerizing spot each holiday season. So, if you want to appreciate an authentic winter wonderland, hit this part of Las Vegas this winter. Its features include ice skating, fire pits, warm cocktails, snacks, and breathtaking views.
In 2021, the ice rink will reopen on November 16. Once there, you can skate across 4,200 sq. ft. of impeccable glaze. Even better, why not indulge in roasting s’mores and savoring seasonal food and beverage offerings?
This magical, park-like rink becomes embellished by the glittering lights of Las Vegas. The regular operating hours are from noon till 11 pm on weekends and from 4 pm till midnight on working days.
The rink accepts guests of all ages. Still, skaters must sign a skating waiver in case an accident occurs. Also, minors must come with the company of an adult who is 21 or older.
Ice skating admission includes all-day access to the rink, whereas skate rentals cost extra. Guests can also bring their skates and pay the entrance fee only. For those who want to enter Boulevard Pool and enjoy the ice rink area, no charges apply.
More specifically, daily admission costs $30, while locals, military, and first responders with valid IDs pay a reduced price of $20. These prices apply from Monday through Thursday. If you want to rent a skate aid, you’ll need to pay $15 extra.
One of the highlights in the center is the light snow showers. These spectacular shows happen every 30 minutes during specific times throughout the season.
In addition, this skating rink is reputable for its special events. Starting as of November 22 and all through December 28, visitors can enjoy spectacular movie nights. Projections take place under the stars at Date Skate on Monday and Tuesday only. You can check the 2021 movie schedule once you go to the Entertainment Calendar section.
One of the events that we recommend for this season is Benny The Ice Skating Dog that shows on December 8. Besides having ultimate fun, $2 will get donated to NSPCA for every skate rental purchased during the event.
Finally, don’t miss New Year’s Eve 2021 at The Ice Rink. If you attend the facility on December 31, you will witness an exclusive fireworks party. This event also offers a three-hour open bar, VIP and reserved fire pit seating, and a midnight champagne toast.
Rock Rink At Downtown Summerlin

Keen skaters can find the Rock Rink ice skating rink at Downtown Summerlin near the Pavilion on The Lawn. Opening hours vary, but you can typically enjoy the area every day, except for major holidays. Any time between November 13 and January 18 is ideal for visiting.
The signature Rock Rink stretching on 8,000 sq. ft. invites guests of all ages to skate under the stars. The joyful festive music and the impressive 40-foot holiday tree overlooking the facility further boost the holiday spirit. Other highlights worth mentioning are the festive train ($4 per ride) and the multi-colored light shows.
Skate rentals start at $16, and tickets are valid for 75 minutes only. Remember that upfront online reservation is obligatory due to Covid-19 precautions.

Las Vegas Ice Center

At the Las Vegas Ice Center, visitors can select a variety of activities. Both rinks provide plenty of action for skaters of all ages and skill levels. Some of the available services include free skating lessons, figure and public skating, and curling. A snack bar and a pro shop are also operating within the facility.
Admissions also come in limited numbers, so you have to reserve your tickets online. A single ice skating ticket under the stars costs $20.
Birthday parties can also get celebrated by choosing one of the three packages (silver, gold, or platinum). Each package includes admissions for two hours of skating, food, drinks, snacks, tableware, decorations, and a party room.
