Free parking at the STRAT Hotel, Casino, & Skypod used to be a beloved perk, a perk that became rarer to find in Las Vegas as the years went by.

An argument can be made for the fact that many locals loved the STRAT, particularly for the free parking, despite the many attractions in the hotel, including the breathtaking observation deck, the northern end resort pales compared to the nearby southern end places.

A recent change has happened in Vegas over the past few years, particularly around the South Strip, where all free parking places are slowly being replaced with paid parking. MGM Properties was the first to announce, and other properties like Caesars Entertainment Resorts followed suit.

The STRAT Hotel quietly introduced their paid parking at the start of April 2023.

The hotel did not officially announce this through its website but rather through posters that were put up on the entrances to the parking area. Imagine thinking you will park for free only to be hit with the paid parking sign out of nowhere.

Reasonably, many did not take it kindly and went online to voice their dismay. As reported by Travel Scholar, the disappointment further raised complaints when guests found out a credit card fee was charged on top of the new parking rates. You must also scan a QR code on your phone to enter the self-parking garage.

Regardless of the change, the STRAT hotel remains one of the cheapest places to park in Las Vegas.

If you want cheaper parking, then take a look at near the Strip areas that still offer free self-parking, including South Point Hotel & Casino, Virgin Hotels Las Vegas Curio Collection by Hilton, The Orleans, Ellis Island, Palms, Red Rock, Rio All-Suite Las Vegas.

Hooters are also one of the places that still refuses to charge its customers for parking. However, as seen with the STRAT, even the most obscure parking spaces can succumb to the pressures of paid parking; it may be a matter of time before it is the norm.

STRAT Hotel Parking Fees

The STRAT did not abruptly remove their complimentary parking. It started slowly a few years ago with its premium parking spaces (about 10% of its total parking space).

Around a dozen prime parking spots on every level, conveniently situated near the elevators and the path leading to the casino, were priced at $6 for the first four hours.

The pricing scheme for the previous premium parking spaces was adopted for the entire parking lot, culminating in implementation of the current paid parking system.

Valet parking was also free, but it has always been customary to tip.

Currently, the only complimentary parking package available is for True Rewards Solid tier members and above. Also, Nevada residents with valid driver’s licenses get free self-parking.

Please remember that the paid parking system applies to hotel and non-hotel guests.
